PAUL C. GARRISON JR.
Nov. 18, 1921-April 13, 2016
Paul C. Garrison Jr., 94, passed away at Stewart Health Center of Springmoor in Raleigh April 13, 2016.
He was born in his grandparents' home on West Pollock Street in Mount Olive, N.C., to parents, Paul and Willie Jennette Garrison, Nov. 18, 1921.
Raised in Goldsboro, he met his beloved Virginia when they were just 12 years old. Married during World War II while Paul was serving in the Army, they were together for 71 years until Virginia's death in August 2015.
After the war, they returned to Mount Olive when Paul joined his grandfather in business at W.R. Jennette Furniture Co.
He and Virginia raised three children, daughter, Julie, son, Paul (wife, Jacqui) and daughter, Betsy, and delighted in their four grandchildren, Katie Intihar (Andrew), Julia Garrison (fiancé, Philippe Putzeys), Sam Bean and Paul Bean.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Paul enjoyed many years in the woods and waters of eastern North Carolina, as well as several trips to Alaska in the company of dear friends.
He was especially proud to have owned and enjoyed for 50 years one of the last Simmons Sea Skiffs built by Mr. T.N. Simmons.
Above all else, he was the most special father and cherished grandfather a child could ever hope for.
The Garrison family will be receiving friends at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 15.
Services will be held by the graveside at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.
