Avelino Deleon Sr., 79, passed away at the Kinston State Veterans Home Feb. 23, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Octavio and Reimunda Deleon, and his brother, Robert Deleon.
He is survived by his children, Sherri D. Teachey and Jeff, Avelino Deleon Jr., Steven Deleon and Jolene, Wendi D. Campbell and Kevin and Joseph Deleon and Gianna.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held in celebration of his life at The Lord's Table Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at 7 p.m., with visitation afterward.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Lord's Table, 1215 Parkway Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
