WALTER "RED" LEE KENNEDY

Walter Lee Kennedy, known as Papa to his grandchildren, 71, passed away Friday morning at home.
He was the son of the late John and Hazel Kennedy, and the husband of Joanne Taylor Kennedy.
He had worked for Kemp Furniture for several years, and had retired from the county of Wayne as an electrician. He owned Walter Kennedy Electric.
He was a member of Southern Wayne Country Club, and enjoyed Friday morning breakfast at BoJangles with his golfing buddies. Walter loved helping people.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and Crematory.
The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Pollock and the Rev. Cliff Harwood officiating. Committal services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
In addition to his wife, Joanne, Mr. Kennedy is survived by two sons, Walter Lee Kennedy Jr. and wife, Amy, of Goldsboro and Timothy Brian Kennedy and wife, Natasha, of St. Louis, Mo.; brothers, Robert Kennedy and wife, Judy, of Goldsboro, George Kennedy and wife, Jean, of Pikeville, Durwood R. Kennedy and wife, Peggy, of Goldsboro and Glenn Kennedy of Goldsboro; a sister, Edna Earl Capps of Goldsboro; grandchildren and the light of his life, Wesley Isaac Kennedy and Emily Grace Kennedy both of Goldsboro; special friends, Ray and Annette Taylor; many special nieces, nephews and friends; and his loving canine friend, Leonard.
He will be greatly missed.
