CURTIS BRAXTON JACKSON

Curtis Braxton Jackson, 77, Goldsboro, passed away Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

Curtis was born in Sampson County Dec. 24, 1937, to the late Olin B. and Mary Surles Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Lynette J. Jackson.

Curtis had owned and operated Jackson Builders in Goldsboro for more than 30 years before his retirement.

He was a member of Rosewood First Baptist Church.

Curtis had also served as the chief of Mar-Mac Volunteer Fire Department from 1969 to 1977.

Curtis had a wonderful sense of humor, and never took himself too seriously. He was a good friend and a great father, and had a generous heart.

He provided a wonderful home for his family, and gave all he could to his family and strangers alike.

While in retirement, he continued to enjoy boating, fishing and supporting the North Carolina Wolfpack. He had a lasting impact on everyone he met and will be dearly missed. Curtis' greatest joy was spending time with family and friends and telling his special stories.

A service celebrating Curtis' life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at Rosewood First Baptist Church, with Dr. Mike Collier officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Curtis is survived by his wife, Delilah Sue Jackson; daughter, Beverly J. Warren of Goldsboro; sister, Judy J. Carroll; sister-in-law, Charlotte Jackson; and grandchildren, Emily Warren, Jackson Warren, Brandon Jackson and Christopher Jackson.

He is also survived by his extended family, Melanie Whelan and husband, Ben, and their children, Liam and Lyla, and Crystal Gray and husband, Jared, and their daughter, Addie.

In addition to his wife and parents, Curtis was preceded in death by his son, Curtis Brian Jackson; his sister, Linda J. Morgan; and his brother, Winston L. Jackson.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
