James Bruce Olive, 62, died Wednesday at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.
Born in Johnston County, he was the son of Josephine Jeannette of Goldsboro and the late James "Bunk" Wilson Olive.
Bruce was a member of Tee's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
A service to celebrate Bruce's life will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Family members will greet friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times, at the home of his son.
In addition to his mother, Bruce is survived by his wife, Ann Newell Olive; a son and daughter-in-law, Justin Bruce and Nicole Olive of Goldsboro; a brother and sister-in-law, Joey and Rhonda Olive of Youngsville; a sister and brother-in-law, Rosalin and Dudley Robinson of Hillsborough; and a grandson, Colton Bruce Olive.
