LINDA KELLY TURNER
Oct. 10, 1953-Sept. 23, 2015
Linda Kelly Turner, 61, resident of Red Hill community near Mount Olive, Wednesday night, Sept. 23, went to be with her Lord, and joined her beloved father, George A. Kelly, and other loved ones gone on before.
Her life will be remembered in a service to be held Saturday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Steve Grissom, and followed by interment in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at the funeral home Friday night, Sept. 25, from 7 to 9 p.m., and at other times, the family will be at the residence.
Linda was a retired registered nurse with a long tenure of employment with the North Carolina Prison System, and at the time of her retirement, she was superintendent over the health division in the eastern district.
She was a lifelong member of Alum Springs Missionary Baptist Church, and had served as church pianist since the age of 11.
She is survived by a loving family all from the Red Hill community, which includes her husband, Charles D. Turner; a daughter and son-in-law, Amanda T. and Tim Jenkins; a son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Brittney S. Turner; her mother, Hilda Jernigan Kelly; and five precious grandchildren, Raegen Elizabeth and Madison Kelly Turner and Peyton Alexandra, Timothy Gage and James Cole Jenkins.
Linda had no siblings, but she had many cousins whom she loved very much, including a special cousin, Beverly Raines of Goldsboro, and two longtime friends, Wanda Swinson-Hash of Elk Creek, Va., and Gwen Davis Turner of Albertson.
It is suggested that memorial gifts be made to the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), 424 E. 92nd St., New York, N.Y., 10128-6804, to commemorate Linda's lifelong love for animals. However, floral tributes are also warmly welcomed.
