Helen Garner Lanning, 99, LaGrange, peacefully passed away Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015.
Mrs. Lanning was born May 13, 1916, in Stillwater, Ohio, to the late Purl Garner and Nora Harper Garner.
She was wife of the late Walter Oakel Lanning and was preceded in death by two children, Wayne Leroy Lanning and Donna Lanning Quinn.
Mrs. Lanning leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and support for her family. Her quiet, behind-the-scenes nature, enthusiasm and charm will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She loved to travel, enjoyed senior citizen bus trips and in earlier years, loved camping by the river in Ohio.
A time of visitation and fellowship will be held Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home in LaGrange.
Mrs. Lanning is survived by her son, Glen Lanning and wife, Donna, of LaGrange; daughter-in-law, Molly Lanning of Kinston; nine grandchildren, Wendy, Tonya, Raquel, Connie, Michelle, Tammy, Laura Beth, Ann and Russell; along with a number of great-grandchildren.
