EVELYN S. MALPASS

Evelyn "Sis" Swinson Malpass, 81, longtime resident of Faison, died Thursday, July 23, at her home.
The family received friends at the funeral home Saturday, July 25, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 26, at 2 p.m. from Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Susan Wells, followed by burial at Wayne Memorial Park.
Employment for her included being a clerk with Friendly Mart, working at and managing a dollar discount store and also working with Walter Bunn in his woodworking shop.
She was a member of Stanford Presbyterian Church, the VFW and the American Legion, and had served on the election board for Duplin County.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James Kent and Barbara Malpass of Faison; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Chuck Williams of Bryson City and Lisa and David Maxwell of Clayton; a brother, Benjamin "Bud" Swinson of Seven Springs; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty S. and Clayton Webber of Seven Springs; six grandchildren, Christopher Malpass, Jaime Malpass, Karen Maxwell, Leah Kelly and husband, Matt, Joshua Williams and wife, Lauren, and Caroline Williams; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Taylor, Chelsea, Christopher Jr. and Mia Malpass, and Madison Myers; other in-laws, Elmer "Buddy" Taylor, Elizabeth "Lib" Swinson, Kaye C. Swinson and David King all of Mount Olive; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon H. Malpass; a stepson, Kenneth Malpass; her parents, Ulysses and Bertha Brock Swinson; three sisters, Velma S. Price and husband, J.B., Peggy S. King and Faye S. Taylor; and brothers, Tom Swinson, Leamon "Buddy" Swinson and Bobby S. "Ham" Swinson and wife, Jo Ann.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial gifts be made to Faison's Emily Hill Library, c/o Duplin County Library Service, P.O. Box 930, Kenansville, N.C., 28349.
