JAMES MALPASS
Nov. 18, 1935-July 7, 2015
Charlie James Malpass, 79, was called home Tuesday, July 7, 2015, to the loving arms of Jesus Christ his Lord.
James was born in Wayne County Nov. 18, 1935, to the late Charlie and Ethel Haire Malpass.
He was a 1954 graduate of Goldsboro High School, and proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
James retired from Hughes Supply Co.
He loved First Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro, and was a dedicated and faithful servant his entire life.
James was an unusually fine man. He was adored by his family, for whom he was a source of joy and strength.
A service celebrating James' life will be held Thursday, July 9, 2015, at 7 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Bailey officiating.
The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church and other times at the home.
Interment will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Willow Dale Cemetery.
James is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Charlotte McBarron Malpass; daughters, Michele M. Cotton and Jennifer Malpass; granddaughters, Morgan and Anna Cotton; sister, Linda M. Rose of Smithfield; and brother, Lee Malpass and wife, Jane, of Ramseur.
He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Janet and James Hamm, Gbo McBarron, Debbie Kennedy and Ricky Hare.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Emma Williford and Frances M. Keen; mother-in-law, Hilda Jones Hare; and sister-in-law, Ramona Hare Taylor.
The family would like to express its appreciation for the compassionate care provided by the LVAD staff and the staff on the 3300 floor of Duke Medical Center, as well as the staff of Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Love and heartfelt thanks is expressed also to his caregivers and friends, Renee Knight and Summer Foster.
