BOBBY WARREN ACKISS
July 31, 1936-July 1, 2015
Bobby Warren Ackiss, 78, Goldsboro, N.C., went to his eternal reward July 2, 2015, surrounded by family at Kitty Askins Hospice Center after a courageous five-year battle with a chronic illness.
He was predeceased by his parents, Roger R. and Elizabeth Thompson Ackiss; a sister, Jean Davis; and brother, Harvey Ackiss.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Jean F. Ackiss; daughter, Christine Ackiss Watson and husband, Tim, of Clarksville, Va.; son, Roger Warren Ackiss and wife, Sharon, of Goldsboro, N.C.; daughter, Teresa Ackiss Mims and husband, Kevin, of King George, Va.; grandchildren, Jason Ackiss, Jonathan Herring, David Herring, Melanie Caroon, Jamie Watson, Tara Fones, Brandon Jones and Danielle McClanahan; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Bob was an active and loyal member of Spring Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church, having served as a deacon, and was presently serving as a trustee.
He was an avid and world renowned wood carver with a passion for nature and a God-given gift for translating what he saw in nature into works of art.
Visitation will be Friday, July 3, at 5 p.m., followed by the funeral at 7 p.m. at Spring Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church at 2127 U.S. 70 West, Goldsboro, NC. Burial services will be Saturday, July 4, at 11 a.m. at Juniper Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church in Vanceboro, N.C.
The family would like to thank all the hospice nurses and Debbie Narron Wall, social worker at 3HC, for their kindness, love and tender care shown to it during this past year.
