GLADYS M. BARNES

Gladys M. Barnes, Southampton, 75, passed away June 16, 2015, at home.
She was a native of Goldsboro, N.C., formerly of Washington, D.C., and lived in Florida for eight years before moving to Southampton.
She was a graduate of Livingstone College in Salisbury, N.C., where she received her bachelor's degree.
Gladys was a teacher and educator all her life, and taught in the Washington, D.C., middle school system.
Gladys was a member of Greenleaf Christian Church in Goldsboro, N.C.
She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and was an entrepreneur.
She was the beloved mother of Charles D. Roseboro and wife, Sharon, and Tara Bowman all of Southampton; sister of Cassandra Chisolm and husband, Anthony, of Tacoma, Wash.; and devoted grandmother of Deborah, Rachel, Nathan, Caleb, Javin, Amati and Ciylen.
Relatives and friends of Gladys's family are invited to a gathering and visitation 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2015, to celebrate and remember her life at Lankenau Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Vincentown, Southampton.
