JAMES R. "JIM" WILLIAMS
June 21, 1937-June 19, 2015
James R. "Jim" Williams, 77, Morganton, N.C., died Friday, June 19, 2015.
Born in Essex County, N.J., June 21, 1937, he was the son of the late Clifton Williams and Sarah Byers Williams.
Jim was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and Valley Hills Antique Tractor Club.
He was a retired employee of the city of Morganton.
Mr. Williams is survived by his son, James David Williams and his wife, Angela, of Morganton; a daughter, Susan Conley and her husband, Ronnie, of Morganton; grandchildren, Dawn Spoon, Jonathan Welborn, Justin Williams and Sarah Williams; great-grandchildren, Hunter Spoon and Finley Cazarez; a brother, Tom Williams of Morganton; and a sister, Barbara Crabtree of Morganton.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Lexine Kirby Williams.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.
The memorial service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 1:30 p.m., with Mr. John Henry officiating.
