MATTHEW H. POLAND

Matthew Hansen Poland finished his journey on earth and passed into eternal life Monday, June 8, 2015.
Matt was born in Goldsboro Nov. 4, 1998, to Chris and Anita Poland.
He trusted Jesus as his personal savior at an early age, and his faith and the love and support of family and friends enabled him to endure, with strength and courage, two years of treatment for Osteosarcoma.
Prior to his illness, Matt was homeschooled, and enjoyed playing basketball, skating, bowling, going for long bicycle rides and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Blake; his sister, Krislen; his grandparents, Bill and Linda Luck and Johnny and Christine Poland; his uncle, aunts and cousins, West and Martha Poland and their children, Kassidy and Kayden, Donnel and Jamie Bryant and their son, Jadon, Suzanne Clark and her daughter, Katelyn Luck; and his girlfriend, Jenna Berry.
Another uncle, Kevin Luck, preceded him in death.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends afterward in the church fellowship hall.
Interment will be Friday morning at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
To honor Matt, the family requests that those attending the committal service Friday please gather at Seymour Funeral Home by 10:30 a.m. to accompany the family in the procession to the cemetery.
