Retired Lt. Col. Alvin Henry Joyner, 84, Wake Forest, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at his home.
Alvin was born in Wayne County July 6, 1930, to the late Edward Henry Joyner and Lucy Loyd Joyner.
He retired in 1983 from the North Carolina National Guard after 22 years of service.
Alvin was an honor graduate of the United States Army Logistics Management Center, the National Defense University and various planning and operations courses at the Emergency Management Institute.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 4, 2015, at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. Brian Merritt officiating.
The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
Alvin is survived by his wife, Marjorie Wilson Joyner; daughter, Regina Joyner Bowling and husband, Steven, of Creedmoor; son, Jeffery Scott Joyner and wife, Kim, of Winterville; and two grandchildren, Steven Bretten Bowling and Amana Wrenn Joyner Williams.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, N.C., 27607.
