Mr. James Allen Smith, affectionately known as Alvin, 48, 3201 Walbrook Place North, Wilson, N.C., passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Wilson Medical Center in Wilson, N.C.
Mr. Smith was a member of J.W. Hood Blue Lodge No. 8, Holy Royal Arch Mason, Ulis N. Dawson No. 83 and Mizpah Temple No. 6, and was regional director for Coastal Regional KOP, as well as other civic organizations.
He was employed at Grifols Pharmaceutical Co. in Clayton, N.C.
A celebration of his life will be held noon Saturday, May 2, 2015, at The Lord's Table, 1215 Parkway Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. Pastor Donald Lewis will officiate, with elder Leo Deans delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park North in Goldsboro.
Loving memories are cherished by his wife, F. Renee' Smith; his children, Khadijah Janee' Smith, Latoya Shadae Chestnut and Darrick DeAndre' Smith; grandchildren, Sean Michael and Peyton Aleah; his mother and stepfather, Barbara and George Murrain; sisters, Michelle Smith, Peggy Smith and Ivy Murrain; one brother, Reginald Monk; his mother-in-law, Janice H. Barnes; brothers-in-law, Gary L. Barnes (Dixie), Ricky S. Barnes (Wilma) and Cary K. Barnes Jr.; one sister- in-law, Marion DeShields; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. James Allen Smith will lie in state Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service at noon at the church.
A pubic viewing will take place Friday, May 1, 2015, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 726 Tarboro St. SW., Wilson, N.C. All other times the family will receive friends at the residence, where it will assemble one hour prior to the service in preparation for the funeral procession.
Arrangements are being handled by Hamilton Funeral Chapel of Wilson.
