SELBY THEODORE BEAMAN

Selby Theodore Beaman, 86, died at his home Sunday.

Born in Greene County, he was the son of the late Theodore and Kitty Moore Beaman.

He was the father of the late Selby Theodore Beaman II and brother of the late Audrey Bishop and Marvin Beaman.

Selby was a well-known auctioneer and farmer.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a charter member of Dudley Volunteer Fire Department.

He was very active in the Eastern Carolina Vintage Farm Equipment Club, Brogden Grange No. 967 and Dudley Christian Church.

A graveside service to celebrate Selby's life will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Doug Dexter and the Rev. Blane Smith officiating.

Family members will greet friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.

Selby is survived by his wife, Ann Sloan Beaman; a son, John Russell "Rusty" Beaman and wife, Barbara, of Dudley; daughters, Kitty Bryan and husband, Steve, of Goldsboro and Nell West and husband, Craig, of Fremont; a brother, Donald Beaman and wife, Virnece, of Dudley; a sister, Ann D'Agostino and husband, Bruce, of Marietta, Ga.; and three grandchildren, Lee West, Caroline Bryan and Luke West.
