KEITH CARGON HORNE

Keith Cargon Horne, 75, passed away suddenly Nov. 19, 2014, at his home.
Keith was born in Wayne County Sept. 10, 1939, to the late Eldridge and Mary Ginn Horne.
He was a graduate of Pikeville High School and Wayne Community College. Keith then attended Atlantic Christian College and East Carolina University, where he received his master's degree in education.
He taught at Fremont Elementary School and other schools across Wayne County. Keith was Wayne County teacher of the year, and was in the final state competition.
He had served as president of the Wayne County NCEA.
He loved to dance, and when he learned to clog, he enjoyed teaching clogging to his students. Most recently, Keith had taken up ballroom dancing, and was enjoying learning this new art.
He was an avid classic car enthusiast, and was proud to have driven one of his cars in the movie "Love Field" staring Michelle Phiffer.
Keith had a great love for country music, and enjoyed singing. He had recorded numerous CDs, and one of his greatest joys was watching his son, Leon, learn to play musical instruments.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dolly Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Keith is survived by his sons, Kenneth C. Horne and wife, Sue, Keenan C. Horne and girlfriend, Lynn Christian, and Leon Horne; daughter, Lisa H. Daniel; grandchildren, Kasey N. Smith and husband, Matt, Nellee Horne and Lee Horne; great-grandchildren, Brady and Abby Smith; brother, Rex Horne and wife, Johnny; and sister Elda H. Baker.
In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded in death by his son, Darren Horne; sister, Janice H. Sauls, and infant brother, Barry Horne.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
