CORA MCGOWAN MITCHELL

Mother Cora McGowan Mitchell, 104, of 4118 Crenshaw Road, Lumber Bridge, N.C., and formerly of Wayne County, departed her earthly life on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at the Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
Cora was born in Wayne County on June 24, 1910.
She was born to the late Mrs. Annie Pearsall McGowan and Mr. Joseph McGowan.
She received some education in an old school in Wayne County.
Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Fred (Bob) Mitchell; two sons, Bobby L. Mitchell and Ozzie B. Mitchell; and daughter, Lenora Mitchell.
The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the D. L. Memorial Chapel at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C.
The Rev. James Williams will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Wayne Memorial Park - South Cemetery, 2925 U.S. 117-South, Dudley, N.C.
Also, a public viewing will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, from 10 to 10:50 a.m. in the Apostle D. L. McIntyre Memorial Chapel at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., with the family present.
Mother Mitchell is survived by her daughter, Pastor Ernestine Strickland of Lumber Bridge,N.C.; her brother, William (Buddy) McGowan of Mount Olive, N.C.; eight grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; a host of in-laws; and other relatives and friends.
On Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, the family members and friends will assemble at 8:50 a.m. at the residence of Ms. Sandra Strickland, 1403 N. Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., in preparation for the funeral procession.
Flowers may be sent to McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, beginning on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
