HORACE EUGENE GURLEY

Horace Eugene Gurley, 80, Goldsboro, passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at Harborview Nursing Home in Texas.
Horace was born in Wayne County July 15, 1934, to the late John Henry and Margaret Smith Gurley.
He retired from Pate-Dawson Co. in Goldsboro after 50 years of service.
Horace was a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014, at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Barry Teague officiating.
Horace is survived by his daughters, Debi Christian and husband, Eddie, of Goldsboro and Renee Curell of Seabrook, Texas; son, Horace Eugene Gurley II "Hardy" and wife, Cathy Jo, of Pikeville; sister, Burnice Hinnant of Goldsboro; brothers, John William Gurley of Pikeville and Jesse Ray Gurley of Goldsboro; five grandchildren, Ashley Christian Phillips and husband, Scott, Kelly Hays Allen and husband, Wayne, Alison Gurley, Jody Gurley and Holly Gurley; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb Bruey and Ashton Bruey.
In addition to his parents, Horace was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Gurley.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 4009 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
