LEMONT LEON KORNEGAY

Lemont Leon Kornegay, 59, formerly of Goldsboro, passed away in Lauderhill, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Willie Mae Kornegay of Dudley.
Leon is survived by four sons, Michael and Cecarhro of Goldsboro, Chadrick of Virginia and Jermaine of Maryland, and a granddaughter, Markita of Goldsboro.
He is also survived by three sisters, Lillie Golden (Jerome) of Atlanta, Ga., Lindy Branch of Florien, La., and Brenda Simmons (Fess) of Atlanta, Ga.; four brothers, James Kornegay Jr. (Miriam) of Columbia, S.C., Robert Kornegay of Atlanta, Ga., Clark Kornegay (Debra) of Atlanta, Ga., and Jerry Kornegay of Goldsboro; an aunt, Irene Swinson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Graduating from Eastern Wayne High School in 1973, he joined the military, where he received the Army Commendation Medal.
Leon worked with Hewlett Packard in Maryland for a while, then returned to Goldsboro, where he was employed by Community Federal Bank and Toyota of Goldsboro.
A memorial service to honor his life will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, at St. Luke Church of Christ, Goldsboro.
