CURTIS ALLEN BILLINGSLEY
Sept. 20, 1930-Sept. 30, 2014
Curtis Allen Billingsley, 84, passed away suddenly Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City.
Allen was born in Clanton, Ala., Sept. 20, 1930, to the late William Curtis Billingsley and Martha Martin Billingsley.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1972 as a master sergeant after 20 years of service.
Following his military career, Allen worked for 20 years in furniture sales and management at Heilig-Meyers Furniture Co. in Downtown Goldsboro.
He was a member of Hood Swamp Friends Church.
We were blessed by the love of a truly honorable, compassionate and humble man, who touched the lives of many people. Allen had a huge heart, always giving and reaching out to others; there wasn't a stranger he hadn't met.
He loved to make people laugh. Most would remember the joy that Allen's presence would bring.
Allen's passion was golf and fishing, and if it was a beautiful day, he would find a friend to enjoy his hobby.
The family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating his life at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. George C. Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with military honors.
Allen is survived by his wife of 42 years, Naomi Taylor Billingsley; daughters, Deborah Ward and husband, Bill, of Sanford, Fla., Sharon Baragona and husband, Charles, of Lake Mary, Fla., Mary Ann Willaford and husband, J.B., of Goldsboro and Carla Griffin and husband, James, of Goldsboro; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He is also survived by a dear friend, Troy Bridgers and wife, Judy.
