LAWRENCE BOGIER JR.
March 23, 1941-June 27, 2014
"I am crucified with Christ: Nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: And the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20
In profound sorrow, the leadership and members of The Original Tabernacle of Prayer for All People Inc. and Haskins Funeral Home announce the triumphant transition of overseer and apostle Lawrence Bogier Jr.
Apostle Lawrence Bogier Jr., 73, 801 S. Claiborne St., Goldsboro, N.C., peacefully entered into eternal rest Friday in Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.
He was born March 23, 1941, to the late Lawrence Bogier Sr. and Hattie Davis Bogier in Summerton County, S.C.
Apostle Bogier was God-sent to Goldsboro in 1976; the first elder to be sent out to pastoralship under the Tabernacle of Prayer Fellowship in Brooklyn, N.Y., under the leadership of his mentor, the late apostle Johnnie L. Washington. His prophetic ministry and work was built upon the foundation of holiness, and grew into a global ministry. He became overseer of fellowship churches in the United States and overseas.
His Christian education began at Manhattan Bible Institute in New York. Through his continued education, he received numerous degrees -- Bachelor of Theology, Master of Theology, Doctor of Divinity and Doctor of Sacred Theology.
He authored three books, "Compared: The Teachings of Jesus to Judaism," "The Calling of God Through Visions And Dreams" and "My Prophetic Call: Life And Ministry of Apostle Lawrence Bogier."
Apostle Bogier's humanitarian services were aimed to make a difference in the community. They began at home and spread abroad, profiling and nurturing outreach ministries such as Mission For Christ, Prison and Jail Ministry, Street Team ministry, prayer line ministry, radio, television, Trumpet of Deliverance Publication, Trumpet Sound Productions of "I Am Determined" live recording, tent ministries, food and clothing pantry and Christian education.
He believed that the people of God should not perish for a lack of knowledge. He instituted, and was president of, Tabernacle Bible Institute, which later developed into an accredited university (TTCU) with campuses and online and satellite classes branched in North Carolina, Indiana, Georgia and Florida, where he served as chancellor.
He was devoted to foreign missions, always remembering the less fortunate. He and his foreign mission team evangelized in the foreign countries of the Bahamas, Costa Rica, South America, the Philippines, the Caribbean Islands, Ghana-West Africa and Tabernacle of Prayer in Nigeria-West Africa, which he established and fathered.
He was visionary of the LBJ Community Development Center (next door to the church), ground he walked and prayed for until God brought the vision to pass. He was founder of the LBJ Community Outreach Kitchen Feeding Program, and the recently-opened Soul Food Place Restaurant.
For a time, he served as treasurer of the Ministerial Alliance in Goldsboro, and was instrumental in providing sound biblical counsel and spiritual guidance to many pastors and business entrepreneurs near and far for nearly 40 years, many whom had beginnings in the Tabernacle of Prayer.
In 2011, Apostle Bogier was honored with the President's Volunteer Service Award, given to those who perform extraordinary everyday acts of service with commitment, but who seldom receive recognition for the great work they orchestrate.
The legacy of this great man of God will continue, and the work will move forward.
His loving memories will forever be cherished by his loving and devoted lifemate of 49 years, eldress Coretha Bogier; three children, Stephanie Bogier Jones and husband, Melvin, of Jamestown, N.C., Jeanette Bogier Hardie and husband, Ron, of Thomasville, N.C., and Lawrence Bogier III of Goldsboro, N.C.; elder Jewel Lee of Clayton, N.C., a faithful, loyal and dedicated godson whom he helped raise, and his wife, Laneace Lee, RN, BSN, a faithful and committed goddaughter, who also served as his personal nurse; eight grandchildren; three brothers; two sisters; and a host of loving aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, spiritual children and church family.
Apostle Bogier will lie in state at The Original Tabernacle of Prayer for All People, 1005 St. John St., Thursday, July 3, from 4 to 8 p.m.
A celebration of the legacy of Apostle Bogier will begin at 6 p.m.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 4, at 1 p.m. at the LBJ Conference Center at 1007 S. John St., Goldsboro, with pastor Jewel Lee officiating.
Apostle Bogier's majestic blue, custom-made, full-couch casket will leave the church in an ornate white horse-drawn hearse. His mortal frame will be laid to rest in Wayne Memorial Park.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, where it will also assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
Condolences may be sent to the home or online at www.haskinsfh.com.
In memorium, the kind act of sending a floral arrangement is appreciated or, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the LBJ Community Development Center Building Fund in his honor.
Arrangements are entrusted to Haskins Funeral Home, 601 E. Ash St., Goldsboro.
