Laura Lancaster Griffith, 87, LaGrange, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Laura was born in Wayne County Feb. 7, 1927, to the late Tommie and Jessie Newsome Lancaster.
She had been an employee of J.P. Stevens.
Laura was a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and a member of the church choir.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Barry Teague officiating. Interment will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Vinson Family Cemetery.
Laura is survived by her husband, Allen Griffith; daughters, Ellen Grice and friend, Ed Braswell, of Goldsboro, Ann Letts of Goldsboro and Emily Smith and husband, Albert, of LaGrange; sons, Kenneth Jones and wife, Myrna, of Goldsboro and Robert Jones and wife, Diana, of Saulston; brother, Edward Lancaster and wife, Lucille, of LaGrange; a special brother-in-law, Ralph Barnes; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Barnes and Marie Vinson, and her brother, Tommie Lancaster Jr.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at her home, 1130 LaGrange Road, Goldsboro.
