ROSEMARY C. MYERS
March 16, 1923-May 30, 2014
Rosemary Chastain Myers, 91, Cypress Glen Retirement Community in Greenville, formerly of LaGrange, peacefully passed away Friday, May 30, 2014.
Rosemary was born March 16, 1923, in Atlanta, Ga., to the late Edward Stanhope Chastain and Gertrude Hyatt Chastain. Rosemary was wife of the late Sidney Jones Myers Jr.
She worked as a bookkeeper for many years alongside her husband, and was a longtime active member of LaGrange Christian Church.
Rosemary was a founding member of LaGrange Garden Club, and was a former Girl Scout leader.
She enjoyed long walks, swimming and bridge, and was a helluva good cook.
She worked many years for the Lenoir County Board of Elections at the Mosley Hall Polling Station, and had given countless amounts of blood to the American Red Cross.
Her most significant role in life, and what she did best, was being a loving mother and grandmother.
A committal service will be held Sunday, June 1, 2014, at 9 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at LaGrange Christian Church.
Rosemary is survived by four children, Mary Ava Myers Johnson and husband, Ed, of Advance, Sidney Jones Myers III and wife, Vicki, of LaGrange, Edward Chastain Myers and wife, Barbara, of Beaufort and Sue Taylor Myers Fordham and husband, Jeff, of Pikeville, along with six grandchildren, Davidson Myers and wife, Lisa, Taylor Myers and fianceé, Jenny Snow, Rosemary Johnson, Edward Johnson, Sam Myers and Patrick Moore.
The family will receive friends Sunday following both services.
