COMOLIA M. NEAL

Comolia May Neal, 78, Goldsboro, passed away peacefully Friday, May 30, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center while surrounded by her family.

Comolia was born in Greene County Jan. 29, 1936, to the late Guy and Thelma Stocks May. She was married to the late Kenneth Harlon Neal.

For 35 years, Comolia was a teacher with Wayne County Public Schools.

She was a woman of personal and professional integrity, whose passionate work in education made a difference in many lives.

Comolia lived a life of dedication to her family and friends, and to her community.

For more than 20 years, she was a volunteer in ICU at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Comolia was also a proud member of Fidelis Omicron Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa.

She will fondly be remembered by her family as an avid Duke and East Carolina fan.

Comolia was a longtime member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. She was devoted to her church, and was involved in many activities, where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God.

Her most significant role in life, and what she did best, was being a loving mother and grandmother.

A service celebrating the life of Comolia will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2014, at St. Luke United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Adam Seate officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Comolia is survived by her son, Harlon Neal and wife, Allison, of Goldsboro, and the apples of her eye, her grandchildren, Cody Harlon Neal and Hannah Caroline Neal.

She is also survived by her sister, Linda Lang of Snow Hill.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Billy May, and sister, Carolyn Wingate.

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 1, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Harlon and Allison Neal, 535 Lake Wackena Road, Goldsboro.

We would like to give a very special thank you to the wonderful staff at Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the love and care it provided for Comolia during her final days. Simple words cannot express our gratitude.

Also a thank you to the caregivers at the Sterling House, who cared for Comolia over these past years.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534; St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1608 E. Pine St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530; or the Kiwanis Club of Goldsboro, 401 S. Madison Ave., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
