ARCHIE BOYD SATTERFIELD

Archie B. Satterfield, 75, died Wednesday evening at his home on Emmett Jackson Road in Faison.
He was born in Alamance County to Bratcher and Virginia Lois Satterfield, who preceded him in death.
Archie joined the United States Air Force after graduating from Haw River High School in 1957. He was a Vietnam War veteran, and retired from the Air Force in 1977, making Goldsboro his home.
He worked briefly for Camper Mart and Cogdell's Cycle Center before joining the FAA in 1981 as an air traffic controller. Archie retired from the FAA in 2007, having moved to New Bern and Faison.
He then worked for Lockheed Martin until 2012.
Archie married his childhood sweetheart, Mary Jeanette Fogleman Satterfield of Haw River, in 1958.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, and two daughters, Katrina S. Neal and husband, Durwood Keith Neal, of Wachapreague, Va., and Katherine S. Roberts and husband, W. Kevin Roberts, of Mount Olive.
Other surviving family are a brother, Miles Satterfield of Lillington; brother, Wade Satterfield of Mebane; sister, Carol S. Needham of Mebane; three granddaughters, Morgan K. Roberts of Mount Olive, Jennifer Neal of Wachapreague, Va., and Erica N. Brooks of Ramstein, Germany; a grandson, Ryan K. Roberts of Clayton; two great-granddaughters, Savannah Brooks and Cheyenne Brooks, both of Ramstein, Germany; and his Australian shepherd, Dixie, who was always by his side.
Final arrangements are incomplete at this time.
Tyndall Funeral Home of Mount Olive assisted the family.
