SARAH C. CONNOR
March 31, 1921- April 21, 2014
Sarah Cox Raynor Connor, 93, Goldsboro, passed peacefully into that far better life with her Lord and savior Monday, April 21, 2014, while being comforted by the love of her devoted family.
Sarah was born in Wayne County March 31, 1921. She was the 11th of 14 children born to the late Ira and Catherine Johnson Cox.
Sarah grew up on the family farm, and graduated from Grantham High School.
After high school, she attended college at East Carolina Teacher's College, and graduated in 1942 before being united in marriage to Luby E. Raynor.
Sarah taught fifth grade for more than 38 years in the Wayne County Public Schools. She always enjoyed connecting with students she had taught through the years.
Following the death of her husband, Sarah married Theodore R. Connor from Goldsboro, who also preceded her in death.
Sarah was a charter member of Adamsville Baptist Church in Goldsboro. She was devoted to her church, and was involved in many leadership activities through which she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God.
After moving to Raleigh to be near her family, she became a member of Greystone Baptist Church, where she enjoyed many friendships.
Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandsons their wives, and her precious great-grandson.
The life she lived, one of grace and Christian love, could not be diminished by the sickness that she endured. Her sweet smile and gentle ways will be remembered by everyone who knew her.
Sarah was also a proud member of Fidelis Omicron Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa and Wayne County Extension Homemakers Club in Goldsboro, where she served as president for many years.
A service celebrating Sarah's life will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Adamsville Baptist Church with the Rev. Sean Allen, the Rev. Skip Pike and the Rev. David Carn officiating. The family will gather by her graveside for a committal service Thursday at 11 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.
Sarah is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Raynor Santana and husband, Victor, of Raleigh; grandsons, Brian Santana and wife, Erin, of Pooler, Ga., and Cameron Santana and wife, Cristin, of Raleigh; great-grandson, Dylan Jackson Santana; and sister, Gladys McCullen of Goldsboro.
She is also survived by her stepson, Lance Connor and wife, Alease, of Goldsboro and stepgrandsons, Troy Connor and wife, Stella, and Eric Connor and wife, Ginger, and their families.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 23, 2014, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of her sister, Gladys McCullen.
