JAMES EDWARD HILL

James Edward Hill of Goldsboro went home to be with his Lord and savior March 25, 2014, at Kitty Askins Center.
James was born in Greene County to the late T.D. and Mamie Taylor Hill.
He was employed with, and retired from, the North Carolina Department of Transportation in Greene County.
After he retired, he spent most of his time using his green thumb "piddling" in his garden, and was well known for his watermelons. He was also always known to be looking a deal.
He loved fishing and watching baseball. He loved his grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with them.
He also enjoyed his morning gatherings with his breakfast buddies at McDonald's.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by infant brother, William, and his sister, Dorothy Hill Davis.
He is survived by his wife of more than 62 years, Mary Gurley Hill, and two daughters, Tory Hill Pruitt and husband, Graham, of Greenville, N.C., and Laura Hill Price and Ray of Goldsboro.
He had three grandchildren, Mary Beth Pruitt, Elizabeth Price and Jamison Richards.
His best friend and cousin, Floyd Hill, and nephew, Jeffrey Davis.
The family will receive friends at Howell Funeral Home in Goldsboro Friday, March 28, 2014, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Kitty Askins Center of Goldsboro or Sweet Gum Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, 787 Sweet Gum Grove Church Road, Stokes, N.C., 27854.
The family wishes to thank all of his wonderful care workers in Pitt and Wayne counties.
