FRED SCOTT
June 1, 1932-March 3, 2014
Wallace Frederick "Fred" Scott, 81, LaGrange, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
Fred was born in Pittsylvania County, Va., June 1, 1932, to the late William B. Scott and Mamie Lee Hardy Scott.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and retired after 25 years of service with the rank of chief master sergeant.
Fred was raised as a master Mason June 4, 1979, in Goldsboro Lodge No. 634, and served as master in 1986 and 1992. He was elected to life membership in 1990.
Fred was exalted a royal arch Mason in Goldsboro chapter 29 in 1980. He served as high priest in 1984, received the Anointed High Priest degree in 1988 and served as the district high priest for the 3rd York Rite Masonic District.
Fred was greeted a royal and select master in Goldsboro Council No. 33, and served as illustrious master in 1986. He received the Thrice Illustrious Master Degree and the Super Excellent Master Degree in 1988.
He was elected to the Grand Council Line in 2001. Fred received the Simmons Jones Baker Award in 2004. He also served as grand representative for the Grand Council of Washington near North Carolina.
Fred was knighted in Goldsboro Commandery No. 26, and served as commander in 1985. He received the Knight Crusader of the Cross degree in 1988. Fred received the Goldsboro York Rite Merit Award in 1985 and The Knights Templar Merit Award of the Grand Commandery of North Carolina in 1993.
He served as district commander on two occasions, and was a life sponsor of the Knights Templar Eye Foundation. Fred received the KYCH in 1988.
He also served as secretary/recorder of the Goldsboro York Rite Bodies. Fred received the Scottish Rite Degrees in the Valley of Wilmington in August 1981, affiliating with the Valley of Raleigh April 15, 1988.
He received the Valley of Raleigh Scottish Rite Merit Award in 1991. Fred was invested with the rank and decoration of knight commander of the court of honor in 1993 and was coronated an Inspector General Honorary in 1999.
He served as director of the degrees for the Lodge of Perfection for a number of years. Fred also served as wise master of the John C. Drewry Chapter of Rose Croix in 2006.
Fred was also a part of other appendant bodies, including DeMolay Council, AMD, past sovereign master and secretary; Harp Cross and Eagle Council, Knight Masons, past excellent chief; York Rite College No. 69, Preceptor, Order of the Purple Cross 2003; Royal Order of Scotland; Holy Royal Arch Knights Templar Priest, Holy Sepulchre Tabernacle No. 111; Order of Bath and Cork; National Sojourners Inc., North Carolina Chapter 97, President and North Carolina Piedmont Chapter 504, 3rd vice president; Heroes of 76, Cornelius Harnett Camp, past commander; Red Cross of Constantine, St. John of Patmos Conclave; and DeMolay Legion of Honor (honorary).
He was also a member of the Sudan Shriners, receiving the Sudan Merit Award in 1984.
Fred was also a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, and served as president of Wayne Shrine Club 1988 and 1993 and as secretary 1996 to 1999. He was elected a life member in 1994.
Fred was a charter member of the Sudan Mini-Rigs, and received the prestigious Walt Disney Award from the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas Inc. in 1998.
Fred is survived by his wife of 59 years, Michele Dutarte Scott; sons, Alan Scott and wife, Rebecca, Phillip Scott, and Eric Scott and wife, Fawn; sisters, Florence Constantino of Henderson, Nev., and Peggy Borell of Richmond, Va.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Harvin, MD, at East Carolina University GI, Dr. Iwen Chang with Southeastern Oncology and the ultra sound radiology department at Wayne Memorial Hospital for the love and care they provided for Fred.
