DUDLEY -- Gerald Clifton Hughes, 74, died Friday at the VA Medical Center in Durham, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Henry Russell and Beatrice Wade Hughes.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frank Purvis officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Burial will be at Wayne Memorial Park Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Mr. Hughes is survived by two sisters, Margaret Hughes Barber and Kathleen H. Thornton, and two sons.
Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of your choice.
