Connie Jean Newsome Daniels passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home.
Entombment will be Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the mausoleum at Wayne Memorial Park.
Born in Wayne County April 4, 1954, she was the daughter of Jean Newsome of Wilmington and the late Eddis L. Newsome.
Connie attended Eastern Wayne schools, and later moved to Wilmington with her family, where she graduated from New Hanover High School in 1972.
Connie loved her husband, Walter Ray, and her family with all of her heart, and loved to travel with them making sure that they could enjoy all the different things that they loved. Her happiness was always in seeing others happy.
Connie was a beautiful person whose loving spirit and ever present smile radiated the joy she experienced in living every day of her life. She was deeply devoted to her family, and was happiest when she was spending time in family/friend gatherings.
In her battle with cancer, she was a constant inspiration, and those who knew her will always remember her joy in living, her laughter, her positive attitude, her caring and loving ways and of course, her courage.
Connie is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Walter Ray Daniels; her mother, Jean Newsome of Wilmington; her daughter, Lynn Farrow; her granddaughter, Morgan Cribb; and her brother, Monty Newsome and wife, Joanie, all of Wilmington.
She is also survived by a niece, Molly Parker Newsome of Raleigh; her "sisters," Teresa Bryant and Lynn Barnes; and a dear friend, Debra Graham.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in memory of Connie to Garris Chapel United Methodist Church, 823 Piney Grove Road, LaGrange, N.C., 28551, or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
