HAROLD L. COLTRANE SR.

Harold Lynwood Coltrane Sr., 87, went to be with his Lord on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.
Harold was born in Lenoir County on April 15, 1926, to the late Arthur Marion Coltrane and Sarah Emma Perry Coltrane. He retired from Sears after 35 years of service. Harold lived a life of dedication to his family and friends, and to his community. He was a charter member of New Hope United Methodist Church and was a member of the Men's Club where he was serving as the treasurer. Harold will be remembered for his love for baseball.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at New Hope United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Steve Wellman officiating. Interment will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, in Wayne Memorial Park.
Harold is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia B. (Sue) Coltrane; sons, Harold L. "Lynny" Coltrane Jr. and wife, Sheila, of Snow Hill and Glenn Coltrane and wife, Carol, of Goldsboro; daughter, Debbie Sutton and husband, Frankie, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Jackie Sutton, Frankie Sutton and wife, Holly, Ginni Jo Sutton, Tessa Denton and husband, Jeff, Joshua Coltrane and wife, Colleen, and Bryan Coltrane; and great-grandchildren, Britney Sutton, Franklin Sutton, Ben Miller, Anna Miller, Claire Denton and Kennedy Denton. He is also survived by his niece and nephews, Bob Boyette, Herndon Boyette, Ray Kennedy and Marian Kennedy; and a dear friend, John McNeil.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his sisters, Louie Kennedy and Katy Waller.
