MIKEY JONES

SNOW HILL -- Mr. John Michael "Mikey" Jones, 58, passed away Jan. 5, 2014, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 22, 1955, to Janet K. Jones Ham and the late Carlos Jones.
A loving and devoted father, his happiest moments were spent with his sons. He and Shawn shared a great interest in sports, especially East Carolina University and Duke.
Mikey had an appreciation for all kinds of music, and taught Cody to play the guitar and drums.
He was a member of Eden Christian Church, and was employed with Harrell Erectors until declining health.
In addition to his late father, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Tammy Haywood Jones.
He is survived by his sons, Shawn Jones and wife, Mary-Emma of Winterville and Cody Jones of Snow Hill; mother, Janet Ham and stepfather, Alton Ham; brothers, Derek Jones of Castle Hayne, David Jones and wife, Tammy, of Snow Hill, Tim Ham and wife, Stephanie, of Winterville and Stephen Ham of Snow Hill; nieces, Rachel Jones, Cassidy Jones, Cadence Jones and Vivi Kate Ham; and nephews, Jeremy Jones and wife, Christy, and Davis Ham.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service in Snow Hill, with the Rev. Greg Persinger officiating. Interment will follow at Snow Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home and other times, at the Ham residence, 1013 Davis Road, Snow Hill.
