Alma Sauls Dale Cox, 87, went to be with her Lord Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at the Brian Center.
Alma was born in Wayne County Feb. 6, 1926, to the late Rudie and Flossie Taylor Sauls.
She had worked with F.W. Woolworth for 44 years before retiring.
Alma was a faithful member of Spring Hill Free Will Baptist Church, where she lead music and directed the choir. She was affectionately called "Church House Mama" by those at the church.
Alma served in ministry at Spring Hill with her late husband, the Rev. William L. Dale, for more than 20 years.
She later married the Rev. Clyde W. Cox, and she served with him in ministry until his death.
Alma will also be remembered for leading the music at the Free Will Baptist Ladies Conference in Cragmont.
Through the years with her family and many friends, she had a patient, caring, understanding and open mind, found wonderful conversation, thereby giving as well as receiving great love.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Spring Hill Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lewis Forsythe and the Rev. Doug Radford officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, in Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Alma is survived by her stepdaughter, Sharon Griffith; a stepgrandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Alma was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Strobel; brothers, Floyd Sauls, Edward Sauls, Bill Sauls and Rudolph Sauls; and a stepson, Boyce Cox.
