ANNABELLE EDWARDS WELLS

Annabelle Edwards Wells, 97, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville.
Annabelle was born in Wayne County Aug. 19, 1916, to the late Luby Delma and Annie Beatrice Pearson Edwards.
A member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Annabelle was a caring, loving wife, parent and grandparent, who loved to travel and visit with friends and family.
She worked as a bookkeeper for many years for Creech's Furniture, and then WAGES.
Prior to the outbreak of World War II, she held a position with the Boy Scouts of America.
While attending St. Paul's, she volunteered in the children's nursery.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Phyllis Vail officiating. Interment will follow at Willow Dale Cemetery.
Annabelle is survived by her sister, Beulah Jones; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Wells Whichard and husband, William Harvey Whichard, of Charlotte; son, George Michael Wells of Durham; grandchildren, Karen Elizabeth Whichard and husband, Mark Schrader, of Charlotte and John Bryant Whichard and wife, Kristen Okamoto, of Athens, Ohio; and great-grandchildren, William Bryant Whichard Schrader and Annabelle Tate Whichard Schrader of Charlotte.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, George Henry Wells; brothers, Luby Edwards and Charles Edwards; and sisters, Ruth Edwards and Clara Lee Shands.
The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 3, 2013, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
