MOUNT OLIVE -- William Dexter Jackson, 81, 814 Country Club Road, passed away suddenly Monday morning, Aug. 19.
Services to remember him and his life will be held Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with burial following at Wayne Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening, Aug. 20, at the funeral home, and at the home at other times.
Mr. Jackson was a well-known area farmer, and was the senior partner of Jackson Farming Co.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Byrd Pate Jackson; a son, William Jackson of Mount Olive; a stepdaughter, Robin Pate-Edwards and husband, Dennis, of Goldsboro; two stepsons, Lee Pate and wife, Joy, of Faison and Keith Pate and wife, Jannah, of Mount Olive; six grandchildren, Scarlett Jackson, Dex Jackson and wife, Morgan, Rylee, Abby, Marshall and Hunt Pate; a sister, Shirley J. Rudolph of Mount Olive; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and William's mother, Joyce Daniels Jackson; his parents, Garland M. and Ruby Keel Jackson; and four brothers, Christopher Wayne Jackson, Garland Jackson, Carl Jackson and Carroll Jackson.
The family prefers that, instead of flowers, memorial gifts be made to Faison United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 417, Faison, N.C., 28341.
