PIKEVILLE -- Melissa Diane Williams Langston, 39, Pikeville, N.C., passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Melissa was born Nov. 24, 1973, in Cabarrus County, the daughter of Grady and Patsy Black of Harrisburg.
She was a 1992 graduate of Central Cabarrus High School, and was currently employed at the Brian Center of Goldsboro as an LPN.
Melissa will be remembered as a kind, caring and giving person. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services for Melissa will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Whitley's Funeral Home.
In addition to her parents, Melissa is survived by her husband, Toby of Pikeville; a son, Dillon Thomas of Concord; a daughter, Cara Thomas of Pikeville; a stepson, J.C. Langston and stepdaughter, Rebecca Langston both of Pikeville; her grandfather, Arda Honeycutt of Harrisburg; two sisters; and two brothers.
The family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Ave., Charlotte, N.C., 28207.
