LELA MAE C. GRIMES

WILSON -- Lela Mae Chase Grimes, 85, went to be with her Lord and savior Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Homegoing services will be held Friday, June 21, 2013, at 7 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends afterward.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 22, 1013, at 11 a.m. at Chase Family Cemetery in Pikeville.
Mrs. Grimes, one of 10 children, was born in Wayne County May 23, 1928, to the late William Herman and Mary Angelina Chase.
She was a member of Stantonsburg Pentecostal Holiness Church since 1966.
She is survived by three sons, Gerald Grimes and wife, Anita, of Fremont, Ricky Grimes and wife, Pat, of Wilson and Dennis Grimes and wife, Judy, of Stantonsburg; two daughters, Suzette Tilghman of Snow Hill and Shelia Lamm and husband, Jimmy, of Wilson; five brothers, Hugh Chase and wife, Sandra, of Fremont, James Chase and wife, Audrey, Delton Chase and wife, Ruth, of Pikeville, Johnny Chase and wife, Lavonne, of New Mexico and Bobby Keith Chase and wife, Paulette, of Pikeville; three sisters, Eva Hehl and husband, Bill, of Goldsboro, Barbara Forehand and husband, Mickey, of Goldsboro and Virginia Gay Byrd and husband, Bob, of Fremont; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her husband, David Grimes, and a daughter, JoAnn Overby.
The family is being served by Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
