Lucille Marshall, 84, passed from this life Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.

Lucille was born in Johnston County to the late John and Bessie Baker Myers, and reared by her grandparents, the late Manley and Alice Jane Baker.

She attended school in Grantham.

She was the wife of Ralph "Chuck" Marshall Sr.

A graveside service will be conducted Mother's Day, May 12, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with Mr. Danny Hood and the Rev. Steve Singleton officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Marshall is survived by six children, Offie Lee Strickland, Andrew Strickland, Sandra Van Wormer, Terry Sims, Ralph (Chuck) Marshall Jr. and Mike Marshall; 11 grandchildren, Alisha Munson, Jeff Strickland, Lisa Strickland, Susan, Jennifer and Scott Van Wormer, Maggie Martin and Michael Sims and Brandi, Sean and Matt Marshall; and 10 great-grandchildren, Zachary and Katie Munson, Jacob and Matthew Strickland, Krystyl and Trevor Jankowski and Madeline, Micah and Miranda Martin; an uncle, David Myers; a brother, L.A. Myers; and two sisters, Anna Nasekos and Gail Myers.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Merlene Melvin, Minnie Grant and Jean Myers Stokes, and a brother, Bobby Myers.

Chuck and Lucille were married March 2, 1962, in Dillon, S.C., and had just celebrated their 51st anniversary.

The Marshall family traveled around the United States until retirement in June 1999, retiring to Goldsboro to be close to family.

She loved her family, traveling, making jellies, listening to music, dancing, sewing, gardening and watching the birds and squirrels play. Anyone who knew Lucille knows she would "say what she meant and mean what she said," while always loving deeply.
