PIKEVILLE -- Ava Grimes Lane, 89, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Countryside Village.
Ava was born in Lenoir County on April 27, 1923 to the late Emmitt Malcolm Grimes and Lossie Potter Grimes. She was married to the late Robert Lane. Ava had worked as a seamstress for many years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. James Gerkin officiating. Burial will follow in the West Cemetery in Faro.
Ava is survived by her brothers, Billy Ray Grimes of Fremont and Kenneth Grimes of Stantonsburg and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ava was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Rankin and brothers, Alton Grimes, Cecil Grimes, Linwood Grimes and Toby Grimes.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Diane and Freddie Mozingo, 3251 Big Daddy's Road, Pikeville, N.C.
