LUCILLE F. ANDERSON

LAGRANGE -- Lucille Foss Anderson, 96, LaGrange, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013.
Miss Lucille was born in Lenoir County to the late Simon and Anna Ivey Foss.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Lawrence Richard Anderson; five brothers, Johnny Foss, James Foss, Jack Foss, Ray Foss and Y.Z. Foss; and two sisters, Swannie F. Mewborn and Louise F. Coltraine.
Mrs. Anderson was a seamstress, and began her working career doing alterations for H. Stadiem Men's Store. She later went to work for Caswell Center, retiring at the age of 66.
After her retirement, Lucille went to work in alterations at Oliver-Turner Men's Wear in Kinston and Hardy's Men's Store in LaGrange. Mrs. Anderson also did alterations from her home.
She enjoyed playing with her Chihuahuas, working in her yard, crocheting, solitaire and reading.
Miss Lucille was an active member of White Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church. She was a member of the church's Widow's Club and Woman's Auxiliary. She was honored as Woman of the Year in 1992 at White Oak Grove.
A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, March 14, 2013, at 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Smith officiating. Interment will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by her son, Dr. Leo Richard Anderson and wife, Alison Anderson, of Corona Del Marr, Calif.; two grandchildren, Kesha Pomeroy and husband, Leason, and Rayna Anderson, all of Orange, Calif.; five great-grandchildren, Andie Pomeroy, Leason Pomeroy V, Harlow Irvin, Leo Wilder Irvin and Duke Lorenzo Irvin; and special nephews, George Foss and wife, Sandra, and Edwin Chase and wife, Dorothy, all of LaGrange, N.C.
The family will receive friends Thursday following the service of remembrance.
