CHARLOTTE -- Barbara Jean Butler was born Aug. 21, 1945, in Wayne County to the late Bernice and William Smith.
She departed this earthly life Feb. 18, 2013 at Mercy Main Hospital in Charlotte, N.C.
She united in marriage with Warren A. Butler, and into this union four children were born.
Two infant daughters, Selena and Quontina, and a brother, Donovan R. Smith, preceded her in death.
She leaves a legacy of love to her two children, Sabrina Caldwell of Charlotte, N.C., and Katrina Butler of Raleigh, N.C.; three grandsons, Keron, Terence and Donte'; a granddaughter, Tiara; two brothers, Waddell (Clementine) Smith of Temple Hills, Md., and Gregory Smith of Oxon Hill, Md.; three sisters, Shiletha Smith of Fremont, N.C., LuDora Smith of Oxon Hill, Md., and Belinda Smith of Eureka, N.C.; an aunt, Peggy Coley of Dudley, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Greater Morning Star in Fremont.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
Interment will be held at Fremont Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends at 708 S. Goldsboro St., Fremont.
Arrangements are being handled by E.M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremation Inc.
