Mrs. Lila Barnes Jacobs, 94, 1901 Elton Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., departed her earthly life peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at her residence.
Lila was born in Wayne County, N.C., Nov. 15, 1918, to the late Mr. and Mrs. John and Sallie Johnson Barnes.
She received her education in the public schools of Wayne County.
Mrs. Jacobs' life work included employment with O'Berry Center and Goldsboro Country Club in Goldsboro, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Loron Jacobs, and her eldest son, Ralph E. Barnes.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Goldsboro-Raleigh District Assembly, 211 W. Hooks River Road, Goldsboro, N.C. Apostle Dennis R. Jacobs will officiate. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, 4125 U.S. 117 North, Goldsboro, N.C.
Also, a public viewing will be held Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., from 2 to 6 p.m.
The family will be present at McIntyre Funeral Home from 5 to 6 p.m. to receive friends and other family members.
Mrs. Jacobs leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories eight children, Sallie M. Lewis (Bobby), Hugh V. Jacobs (June) of Harrisburg, N.C., apostle Dennis R. Jacobs (Ravonda), Rose Mary Sherard (Thedwood), Brenda K. Reid (Wiley), Linda F. Bowman (Marvin), Chester L. Jacobs (O'Reta) of San Diego, Calif., and Michael L. Jacobs; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
The family will assemble Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at the residence of Mrs. Lila Jacobs, 1901 Elton Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., one hour prior to the funeral at 9:55 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
