WAKE FOREST -- Joanna Shoun Davenport, 82, Wake Forest, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at William M. Dunlap Center for Caring.
She was born in Lebanon, Tenn., the daughter of the late Louis Shoun and Louise Hobson Shoun.
Mrs. Davenport was the first registered medical technologist in North Carolina, having retired after many years of service.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister, and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, Feb. 20, 2013, in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davenport is survived by her children, Deborah Davenport, D.V.M., and husband, Martin Drey, of Lawrence, Kan., David Davenport and wife, Gail, of Russellville, Ark., and Dana D. Hardin and husband, Len, of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Tim Singleton and wife, Britt, of Bentonville, Ark., Janelle Miller and husband, Luke, of Russellville, Ark., and Kyle Davenport of Russellville, Ark.; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Zach Singleton and Hallie, Nathan and Gracie Miller; sister, Linda Shoun of Williamsburg, Va.; brothers, John Shoun and wife, Neva, of Burlington and Paul Shoun and wife, Janet, of Nashville, Tenn.; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L. Earl Davenport, and a sister, Edna Palmer.
