Christine Pittman Mitchell, 75, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Christine was born in Wayne County June 6, 1937, to the late Oscar Pittman and Zettie Bass Pittman. She was married to the late Norwood Lee Mitchell.
Christine retired from Cherry Hospital.
She was a caring, loving wife, mother and grandmother whose primary goal was the happiness and security of her family.
Christine was a member of Victory Free Will Baptist Church.
A service remembering Christine will be Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Fred Crank officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Christine is survived by her daughter, Gail Peele and husband, Mitchell, of Garner; her sons, Larry Mitchell and wife, Debra, of Goldsboro and Neil Mitchell and wife, Gwen, of Ayden; nine grandchildren, Seth Mitchell, Alex Mitchell, Elise Mitchell, Cheyenne Mitchell, Charlotte Mitchell, Matthew Peele, Samantha Peele, Kristy Trudeau and Nicole Draughon; and four great-grandchildren.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Victory Free Will Baptist Church, 1806 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
The family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at 102 Rhonda Place, Goldsboro.
