DORIS PAIT SHAW

Doris Pait Shaw, 83, passed away Saturday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Doris was born in Bladen County Aug. 10, 1929, to the late Richard and Naomi Pate. She was married to the late Wade Shaw.
Doris was retired as a school administrator for the Goldsboro City School System after many years of service.
Doris was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church.
She was involved in the Keep Wayne County Beautiful campaign, and was currently serving on the Goldsboro Housing Authority Board.
Always interested in serving others, she served as a volunteer for Guardian ad Litem for 13 years.
Doris was very fond of outdoor activities such as gardening and fishing, though her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Fulkerson officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Rose Marlow and James of Goldsboro and Barbara Taylor and husband, Steve, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Ron and Stephanie Casey of Silver Spring, Md., Jason and Mary Grace Marlow of Raleigh and Lindzey and B.J. O'Brien of Powder Springs, Ga.; brother, Vernon and wife, Clara Pait, of Pamplico, S.C.; and godson, Davis Harris of Goldsboro.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Eddie Alan Shaw.
The family will receive friends Monday evening Jan. 21, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at her residence.
