ARTHUR THIGPEN

CALYPSO -- Arthur Thigpen passed away early Friday morning, Dec. 21, at his residence.
He was the son of the late Cleveland and Carrie Moody Thigpen, was retired from the Duplin County unit of the North Carolina Department of Transportation and was a member of Wayne's Chapel Church of God of Prophecy.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 22, at 6 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, and will be officiated by the Rev. Wayne Goff and the Rev. Ralph Parker.
Visitation will be immediately after the service.
Burial will be in Pate Cemetery at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23.
Mr. Thigpen is survived by his wife, Lettie Taylor Thigpen of the home; a daughter, Kathy Thigpen of Faison; three sons and daughters-in-law, Lylton Ray and Juliann Thigpen of Delway, Jeffrey Lynn and Connie Thigpen of Warsaw and Stephen Lee and Teresa Thigpen of Calypso; five grandchildren, Douglas Ray Thigpen, Lori T. Jernigan, Clinton Allen Thigpen, Mitchell Blake Thigpen, and Corey Hunter Thigpen; and four great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant grandsons, Mitchell Lynn Thigpen and Jeffrey Trevor Thigpen; three sisters, Vera Mae Thigpen, Mildred Thigpen King and Doris Thigpen Kornegay; and a brother, Stanley Sanderson.
