June Garriss Foil, 71, died Wednesday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
She was born in Wilson County to the late Berry Stokes and Rosa Lee Stott Orr Garriss.
She grew up in Goldsboro, where she graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1959, and enjoyed keeping in touch wither her classmates.
She took nursing classes in the early 1960s, and married her love and best friend, John Edwin Foil Jr., July 1, 1972, where she recently celebrated 40 years of marriage.
A member of First Assembly Church, she was also active with the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs, their youth organizations and as a Girl Scout leader at the Odd Fellows Orphanage.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with pastor Chuck Clark officiating. Graveside services will be held privately.
The family will be receiving friends immediately following the funeral service, and at other times will be at the home of her daughter, Sharon F. Mohiser, 103 Bennelli Circle, Goldsboro.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Krista Foil of Goldsboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Scott Mohiser of Goldsboro; six grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Isis Garriss of Pikeville.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert "Tony" Trull, and a brother, Harold S. Garriss.
