MOUNT OLIVE -- Roy S. Wright, 97, Canton, formerly of Asheville, died Sunday afternoon with his family by his side.
Funeral service will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Unity Baptist Church, 489 N.C. 55 East in Mount Olive. Pastor Ronnie Wise and pastor Ralph Painter will officiate.
There will be a time to share with the family following the funeral in the church.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Lewis Memorial Park, 415 Beaverdam Road, Asheville. The Rev. Jackie Collins will officiate.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Canton.
Surviving are his son, former superior court judge, Paul Wright of Mount Olive, and grandchildren, Faith, Josiah, Hope, Charity, Jeremiah and Mercy all of Mount Olive.
Mr. Wright was retired from Carolina Power and Light Co.
He was a native of Buncombe County, and was preceded in death by his parents, Rachel Ford Wright and Pinkney Arthur Wright, and a daughter-in-law, Lisa Stanley Wright.
The family requests that memorials be made to Unity Baptist Church, 489 N.C. 55 East, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
