GEORGE EARL TOLER

George E. Toler, 81, of 3175 U.S. 117, passed away Sunday night at Jacob's Ladder Family Assisted Living in Rockledge, Fla.
George was born in Johnson County on March 1, 1931 and was the son of the late George Ransom and Leona McFatter Toler.
George was a devoted husband and father. He was married to the love of his life, the late Joyce Futrell Toler, for 44 years. He was employed with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Bridge Engineering Division, for 42 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Marines.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
George is survived by his loving family, his daughter, Edith Toler Godwin, and her husband, Dennis, of Rockledge Fla.; two sons, Earl Toler of Pikeville and Eric Toler and his wife, Tammy, of Crestview, Fla.; his sister, Barbara Murphy, and her husband Craig of Goldsboro; two brothers, Junior Toler and his wife, Shirley, of Goldsboro and Billy Ray Toler and his wife, Joyce, of Princeton; six grandchildren, Justin Godwin, Joshua Godwin and his wife, Judy, Jonathan Godwin and his wife, Hannah, and Derrick and Darren Toler, all of Florida, Ransom Toler and his wife, Jessica, of South Carolina; four great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jessica Godwin and Baylee and Kaleigh Toler.
In addition to his parents and wife, George was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Toler, and four sisters, Nancy Cruse, Pearl McFatter, Rosa Lee Jinnette and Norma Williford.
